Meat Joy - by Robert Robert - One Saturday during the shooting of Erotic Salad, we were on location at a friend's house in Brooklyn. I had intended only to shoot the "nude girl in chains" scene. However, just before we began shooting, I remembered that there was a butcher shop down the block that we had seen while bringing in the equipment. And on the "spur of the moment" I ran outside to the butcher shop and bought $25 worth of raw meat (a lot of meat back in 1967) - chickens, beef tongue, kidneys, livers, etc. Arriving back at my friend's house, I asked one of our attractive young female actors to get undressed and fill the bathtub with warm water. Then I put all the raw meat in the tub and asked her to get in too. In the resulting scene, she sits in the tub rubbing the raw meat suggestively over her entire body, apparently lost in a kind of sensuous ecstacy. I have never seen anything like it, before or since. Later on, in the editing stage, I added a sound track of delightful "ice skating" music, which, for some reason, seemed to fit perfectly. This became the "Bathtub Scene".
